ALUMNI PORTRAIT
EMbassadrice – Montreal

Can you introduce yourself in a few words?
Originally from the Berry region of France, I chose to study at EME (yes, you read that right — the European School of Management) in Strasbourg in 1991 because it offered a full year abroad. It was my studies in Montreal, Quebec (Canada) in 1993–1994 that changed my life… because I ended up staying! As the saying goes: when you marry, you marry the country too! I completed my degree by earning my CPA (Chartered Professional Accountant) certification in 2011.

In my free time, I enjoy running and painting.

Looking Back at the School

When did you graduate and from which program?
I graduated from the Grande École program at IECS (no longer EME and not yet EMS) with a Finance-Control focus in 1995 — the 66th graduating class.

What did EM Strasbourg bring you the most, in your opinion?
My involvement in the Student Union (where I was treasurer in 1992–1993) gave me my first real professional experience, with all the learning that comes with it — human relationships, taking responsibility, and problem-solving.

Also, being part of a class cohort was an incredibly enriching and unique human experience.

Career Path

What is your current role and where do you work?
I work as a Corporate Advisor – Strategic Management Tools at the Société de Transport de Montréal.

What has been the most significant milestone or achievement in your career so far?
My greatest professional pride has been playing a key role in getting two public transit project business cases approved by the provincial government. The resilience it took to run hundreds of budget simulations over six years was the toughest, yet most rewarding, professional marathon I’ve ever run.

Role as EMbassadrice

Why did you become an EMbassadrice?
Seeing that there were several chapters all over Europe, I thought: why not open one here in Montreal? Maybe there were other alumni who, like me, had settled here and would like to maintain a network. I contacted the school, and they immediately supported the initiative.

To me, the school has an international calling, and the alumni chapters are one of the best ways to show its global reach — beyond Strasbourg, and beyond France.

What do you enjoy most about your role?
I absolutely love creating unexpected encounters — between people of different ages or with unique backgrounds. I also love offering everyone a little virtual trip back to Alsace during our gatherings. At “Les 3 Brasseurs,” we even eat flammekueche!

How can the alumni network be an asset in a professional journey?
Since a network leads to more networks, there’s no reason not to take part in the alumni community — whether for building business connections or job searching. Also, taking advantage of free advice from more experienced alumni can be incredibly valuable, saving time and money — especially when you’re a student or a recent graduate!

One word for the Alumni?
Graduating from a school doesn’t just mean passing your courses and getting your diploma. It also means joining a family of alumni — being proud of it, representing it, and supporting fellow members.
